After the strongest of the series so far, Dr. For Watchmen fans, this issue holds a moment with a certain smiley badge that was handled pretty well. Before Watchmen Week 14 Overview: Silk Spectre's part in Before Watchmen continues to be the most standalone of the miniseries' but itВЂВ™s beginning to tie into the grand scene of things this week with the ever growing drug problem in the Before Watchmen series.

Sure The ComedianВЂВ™s intentions seem pure enough but given what we know of the full picture this could very well spark the beginnings of the bitter Laurie Jupiter we know and love (but not as much as this young fun one). This is a sad situation for Laurie and one that carries on the themes of bad parenting in our Watchmen origin tales. Anyway, as the drug problem continues to grow across many of the Before Watchmen titles, thereВЂВ™s bound to be a bit of a crossover and in the final act of this issue we get to see The Comedian and how heВЂВ™s played a part in his daughterВЂВ™s life without her really knowing it. IВЂВ™ve said it before but out of all of the Before Watchmen run, itВЂВ™s Silk Spectre that I would happily read as an ongoing, thereВЂВ™s something that feels like it has places to go that isnВЂВ™t restricted due to the events in the original Watchmen and with Darwyn Cooke and Amanda Conner leading the way, thereВЂВ™s so much to love about this take on Silk Spectre. Manhattan left the galaxy, leaving only two people on Earth who knew Ozymandias had sent the alien squid to New York CityNite Owl II and Silk Spectre II. Amanda Connor draws her character in such delightful ways and the fight sequence is so much fun to see play out. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. I have to say that my love of Silk Spectre kicking ass has not lessened since last month. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. She gets her thigh high boots and sheВЂВ™s away to fight the drug lords who are dosing up teens to spend their money on stuff. The drive to get Laurie as a fully functioning crime fighter is what this miniseries is all about at this stage. This is where the ВЂВBeforeВЂВ™ of Before Watchmen comes in. Despite the turn for the worst at the end of the trip, this wasnВЂВ™t the terrible experience we thought it might be for Laurie, well, until it turns out current love of her life Greg has had a nasty trip and winds up in hospital. Talking cats and Laurie's thoughts on the world around her is one thing but when she starts to talk about the ВЂВњBlue guyВЂВќ and her daddy issues itВЂВ™s a good arena to play in for this Before Watchmen title. WhatВЂВ™s involved in this trip is a blast. What this leads to is Amanda ConnerВЂВ™s artwork running wild as panels stretch, visuals get weirder and we begin to delve into LaurieВЂВ™s issues.

Rating: 3.5 Silk Spectre #3 kicks off right where #2 left us.
